Why the Universe is Expanding - A Look at Nature
Since Edwin Hubble first discovered that the universe is expanding exponentially at an accelerated rate, scientist and astronomers had been scratching their heads and asking why. Could the answer be found by observing nature? Could it be because the stars are feeding on invisible dark energy and reproducing like grapes on a vine as they expand out over this mass of dark energy much like a vineyard feeds upon energy rich soil as it expands out over its field of soil?
Now at first that may sound far-fetched or ridiculous to you but many of man's greatest discoveries have come from observing nature. Take for example Isaac Newton; while walking in his gardens, he had the first thought of his system of gravitation, upon seeing an apple falling from a tree.
Consider this FOOD FOR THOUGHT: As you may know the universe is believed to be mostly composed of invisible dark energy and dark matter. Less than 5% of the universe is ordinary matter (Stars and Planets).
Suppose for a moment that this dark energy were mineral rich soil. Now let's say you planted a single grape seed in the middle of this field of soil (universe of dark energy), then went away for 1 billion years. What would you discover when you returned? You would find that the grape seed had germinated as it fed upon the rich soil and eventually produced clusters of grapes that fell to the ground and in turn germinated and grew into additional grape clusters and the process continued over and over until that single grape seed had turned into a large vineyard of grapes expanding out over its field of energy rich soil with grape clusters as far as the eye could see.
Now say you went away for an additional billion years. When you returned would you find a vineyard twice the size as it was a billion years earlier, or would it be much larger? The answer would be that it would be much larger than twice the size, because now there are billions of grapes, producing grape seeds and multiplying at a much faster rate exponentially the older the vineyard gets.
Now what if this same process were at work in the growth and expansion of the stars in the universe! What if, like the grape seeds feeding upon the energy rich soil growing into a massive vineyard made up of billions of grapes, the stars are somehow feeding upon dark energy as they reproduce like grape clusters expanding the universe at a faster rate exponentially as it grows older. Like the vineyard that grew from a single seed, evidence shows that the universe has grown and expanded from a singular mass of energy, that reproduced over and over into stars and galaxies for 13.7 billion years that continues to expand at a faster rate the older the universe becomes. Like the grape seeds, it appears the stars may be feeding upon energy rich soil to grow and reproduce; in this case the soil of invisible dark energy. Once again you may think that this idea is ridiculous, but before you dismiss it as nonsense consider this. Every species we observe in nature here on earth has followed this same pattern of an initial beginning, reproduction and exponential accelerated growth as it ages while feeding upon the energy rich earth. It doesn't matter if it is a forest of trees, a vineyard, a species of birds, or humans.
Now suppose in the example of the grape vineyard, you happened to come upon it 13.7 billion years after that first seed was planted and found yourself in the middle of this massive vineyard looking out at grapes as far as your eyes could see, and you didn't know much about how grapes grew and no one to tell you. How could you possibly know in an instant of time where all these grapes came from? To get the answer you would have to travel back in time and observe the vineyards growth in reverse. Only then would you discover that all these grapes emerged from a single seed (a point of singularity) as it feed upon the energy rich soil and reproduced into clusters as they advanced out over this body of energy rich soil for billions of years.
Likewise we now find ourselves 13.7 billion years from the seed of energy that started the universe and are now traveling back in time through the eyes of the Hubble and soon the James Webb telescope to discover that all these stars emerged from a single (a point of singularity) cosmic seed (with the DNA of the universe already built in much like the DNA of a vineyard is built into a single grape seed) as it must have feed upon the soil of dark energy to reproduce into star clusters that now make up the universe.
The answer to how the universe came into existence and why it is expanding may lie in the answer of one simple question. How does a single gape seed turn into a massive vineyard?
Sometimes the answer to complex questions can be found by observing the nature around us!
Do you not find it amazing that the existence of an entire vineyard or forest of trees is lock inside of a single tiny seed? Could this life producing process give us the answers we seek about how the universe came into existence?
An even bigger question to ponder; whose imagination could compare to the One responsible for our incredible universe?
